২০০০ বই আর প্রবন্ধ না দিয়ে, আমার মনে হল যে সব পাঠক প্রথম ক্রুসেডের বিষয়ে অথবা ক্রুসেডের অন্যান্য বিষয় আলাদা আলাদা করে আরও একটু গভীরে ঢুকতে চান, তাদের জ্ঞানার্জনের জন্যে কিছু বইএর নাম উল্লেখ করা দরকার। মূলত আমি ইংরেজিতেই পাঠ নির্দেশ দিয়েছি, কিন্তু অন্যান্য ভাষাতেও বই আছে।
ক্রুসেড বিষয়ে
ক্রুসেড, শুধু বর্তমান সময়েই নয়, সাধারণভাবে ঐতিহাসিকদের অখণ্ড মনোযোগ আকর্ষণ করে এসেছে। এগুলির মধ্যে Christopher Tyerman এর God’s War : A New History of the Crusades (London, 2006), Jonathan Phillips, Holy Warriors এর A Modern History of the Crusades (London, 2009), এবং Thomas Asbridge এর The Crusades: The War for the Holy Land (London, 2010) ক্রুসেড অভিযানের নানা দিক নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে। ক্রুসেড ঐতিহাসিকদের মধ্যে অগ্রগণ্য জনাথান রেইলি-স্মিথের The First Crusade and the Idea of Crusading (London, 1986) বইটি আজও অবশ্য পাঠ্য। সাধারণ ক্রুসেড নিয়ে তো বটেই, প্রথম ক্রুসেডে জেরুজালেম দখল নিয়ে তার অসামান্য পথপ্রদর্শক কাজ হল The First Crusaders 1095–1131 (Cambridge, 1997)। John France এর Victory in the East (Cambridge, 1994) আমাদের সামরিক রণনীতি বিষয়ে বুঝতে সাহায্য করে। Thomas Asbridge এর বই The First Crusade: A New History (London, 2005) সুখপাঠ্য।

আশ্চর্যজনকভাবে Jonathan Harrisএর স্পষ্ট এবং কার্যকরী Byzantium and the Crusades (London, 2003) ছাড়া আধুনিক বাইজান্টাইন বা আরব ঐতিহাসিকেরা ক্রুসেড নিয়ে প্রায় নিরব। প্রথম ক্রুসেড নিয়ে Canadian Institute of Balkan Studies (Toronto, 1996), pp. 3–38এর Paul Magdalinoর ‘The Byzantine background to the First Crusade’ বেশ ভাল। অন্যদিকে র্যালফ জোহান্নেস লিলির ক্রুসেডারদের সঙ্গে বাইজান্টাইনদের সম্পর্ক প্রথম প্রকাশ হয় জার্মানে ১০৮১তে, এখন ঝরঝরে ইংরেজি অনুবাদে পাওয়া যায় Byzantium and the Crusader States 1096–1204 (tr.
